Meet The Owner of Studio XIV, Vanessa...
Vanessa began dancing at the age of 3 and has since been trained in hip hop, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, ballet, and a heels instructor.
She knew from an early age that she would love to teach dance and ultimately own her own studio one day. This is when she made the decision to attend the University of Guelph-Humber for Business, so she could ensure this future dream studio would be run successfully. Vanessa chose to step away from dance in order to focus on her education, but quickly realized how much dance had helped her physically, mentally & emotionally when it was no longer a part of her life.
After months of searching for adult dance classes in her area, she stumbled upon Army of Sass on Instagram. Vanessa took her first heels class in 2017, and was instantly hooked. Not only was she able to bring dance back into her life, Vanessa fell in love with the inclusive & empowering nature of the group.
This is when the idea of Studio XIV was born. Vanessa realized this dream of owning a dance studio was much bigger now. It had to be a place that was more than dance; it had to be a place where adults could come to express themselves through movement like we once did before we had to "grow up".
After taking over as licensee for Jennifer Arbour of Army of Sass Newmarket in July 2020, Vanessa was on a mission to not only find a permanent home for her sassy family, but to make this adult studio dream a reality.
After opening the doors to Studio XIV in September 2020, Vanessa quickly expanded the studio beyond offering just adult dance classes. Studio XIV now offers performance opportunities, show training programs, video sessions & more.
